Comfort for the soul

I know you shouldn't use food for emotional comfort. I know the pitfalls: weight gain, emotional dependency, covering up the problem. But, I don't think any of that should diminish the restorative powers of a good cup of hot chai. There is something about the peppery aroma, the creamy, soft texture as it glides across the tongue, the sweet but spicy flavor that simply soothes the soul. Even on a hot day like today. So, despite the near-90 degree heat, I will gladly take my cup of hot, fragrant, gratifying chai into the depths of my air conditioned home and let it run as a balm not only over my tongue but over my bruised spirit, and maybe wistfully think of a day in late November when the air turns crisp, the leaves are gone, and winter is coming, when chai offers that added comfort against the cold.

  1. Hi Stacey! :) Thanks for your comment. At this time I'm not really following any program. I went to a seminar at a Mom's group I was attending last fall and learned some great different ideas, some of which I've been trying to implement in our home - but I'm still very new at the meal planning business myself. I guess I got to the point where I would post my meals on the web to keep me accountable to plan our weekly meals and also to get some other great menu ideas from family/friends! I would love to share some ideas w/you sometime if you're interested. I know how easy it is to get into a rut w/meals for sure! :) How have you been feeling throughout your pregnancy, how many weeks?
